This article continues the theme of creating life purpose in your daily experience. In the previous video, I spoke about waking up with intention and bringing purpose into your day, even if your current circumstances feel monotonous or difficult to change right away. By choosing how you show up, and by connecting with your inner experience through awareness, you begin shifting from the inside out.

A central part of this work is the daily awareness practice. This means taking time to sit with your body sensations in the present moment. The present moment is where your power truly is. When you connect with your inner experience rather than running on autopilot, you begin to feel more alive, grounded, and capable of positive change.

For a while, this can feel exciting. You may notice yourself feeling better, thinking more clearly, and experiencing more purpose. But at some point, most people hit a wall. Everything feels good, and then suddenly the progress collapses. You might feel worse than when you started, lose motivation, or feel unable to do the practices that were helping you feel better.

This is not failure. This is an important part of the healing process.

Why Progress Suddenly Disappears

When change is unfamiliar, it stirs up old subconscious beliefs that were formed long ago—beliefs about not being good enough, not deserving success, or needing to stay small to feel safe. These beliefs become part of our identity, shaping how we protect ourselves and how we interact with the world.

When you start making positive change, these old programs lose the attention they are used to receiving. If you stop feeding them with negative self-talk, worry, or people-pleasing, they react the same way a neglected part of you would react: they try to pull your attention back.

This can look like:

•Feeling suddenly anxious or unmotivated

•Thinking old negative thoughts about yourself

•Feeling like giving up because “it’s not working”

•Slipping back into old habits or patterns

•Feeling overwhelmed or disconnected

It’s not that your progress disappeared. It’s that an old part of you is surfacing because it is afraid of being left behind. It’s actually a sign of progress.

How to Work With These Inner Parts

Instead of fighting these old patterns, the key is to meet them with understanding and compassion. These inner parts were formed to protect you when you were younger. They just don’t realize you’re ready to live differently now.

When the old patterns trigger up:

•Sit down for your awareness practice as soon as you can

•Bring your attention to your breathing

•Notice your body sensations with openness

•Imagine talking to the part of you that feels afraid, as if it were a younger version of yourself

•Gently reassure it

•Ask what it’s afraid of

•Let it know you want it to come with you into the new changes you’re creating

These inner patterns are not meant to be destroyed. They are meant to be integrated into a more evolved version of yourself. When you give them attention through awareness, you are helping them grow.

Returning to Your Practice

It may feel extremely difficult at first, especially when the old program is loud. But just like tending a garden, your inner world needs regular care. If you plant seeds, water them twice, and then walk away for the season, nothing will thrive. The same is true for emotional healing.

Return to your breath. Return to your body sensations. Notice when thoughts pull you away and gently redirect yourself. This is not about perfection; it is about the willingness to come back, over and over again.

Over time, your awareness practice becomes your anchor. The more you show up for yourself, the more stable and empowered you become.

Progress doesn’t happen overnight. It takes discipline, patience, and compassion. But the results are deeply worth it. You begin waking up with purpose, feeling more alive in your day, and reconnecting with who you truly are.
