Welcome to video five in my Overcoming Self-Doubt series. In the earlier videos, we explored how self-doubt forms, how awareness and presence help you understand what’s really going on inside, how gratitude shifts negative thinking, and how small success steps build confidence.

In this part of the series, we move into one of the most important pieces of overcoming self-doubt: learning how to become comfortable with uncomfortable feelings.

Why This Step Matters

Most of the things we avoid in life are avoided for one reason — they bring up feelings we don’t like. If doing something didn’t make us uncomfortable, we would naturally follow through. Excitement moves us forward easily, but discomfort often stops us in our tracks.

We are feeling beings. Everything we experience in life is sensed through the body — emotions, sensations, reactions, intuition. Without discomfort, we wouldn’t understand comfort; without challenge, we wouldn’t feel the joy of accomplishment. Life works through polarity. Warm and cold, effort and reward, sadness and happiness — they all define one another.

Because of this, learning to be with your full range of feelings is essential. The more you can sit with what arises in you, the more capable you become of moving toward your goals without shutting down or pulling back.

You Can’t Skip the Step You’re In

If your goal is up here, but you are starting down here, you have to build the internal capacity for the steps between. If you are already overwhelmed where you are now, trying to push yourself further only creates more overwhelm. Then you collapse back into old patterns.

Overcoming self-doubt requires learning how to stay present with what you feel right now — not pushing ahead of your emotional capacity. As you build this ability, you stretch more naturally into your next steps.

The Daily Practice That Makes Change Possible

In video two, I taught an awareness practice to help you slow down, connect to your body, and observe your thoughts and feelings with clarity. Practicing this regularly is the foundation for becoming comfortable with the uncomfortable.

If you want a guided structure to help with this, I created a free mindfulness series on my website. It walks you step-by-step through daily practices that help you understand your mind, support emotional change, and learn to sit with what you feel.

Building Confidence One Step at a Time

When you can be with what you feel, even if it’s uncomfortable, you naturally begin to trust yourself. You take a small step, stay with the sensations, breathe through it, and discover you can handle it. Then you take another step.

You keep practicing your success steps.
You keep practicing gratitude.
You stay present with your feelings.

Over time, your confidence grows. And once you experience that growth, self-doubt begins to lose its power.
