Financial Stress & Money Mindset Series – Video 8
In the previous videos, we’ve explored awareness, limiting beliefs, raising our vibration, gratitude, and most recently, the idea of planting seeds in our inner garden.
Today I’d like to build on that foundation by talking about some simple tools we can use at the beginning and end of each day to help move us toward the life we’re trying to create.
If we’re planting seeds of wealth, abundance, health, meaningful relationships, peace, and confidence, then our daily habits should support those seeds.
Every day gives us another opportunity to plant them.
Every Day Is a New Beginning
One of the wonderful things about life is that every morning we wake up with another opportunity to practice.
We get another chance to improve.
Another chance to grow.
Another chance to move a little closer to the person we’re becoming.
At the end of the day we can look back and ask ourselves how the day went, what we learned, and what we’d like to do differently tomorrow.
Instead of simply repeating the same day over and over, we can gradually move ourselves forward.
Begin the Day with Awareness
Before getting out of bed, take a few moments to simply breathe.
Connect with your body.
Practice the simple awareness exercise we’ve been working on throughout this series.
Then begin shifting your attention toward appreciation.
Rather than immediately thinking about everything you have to do today, ask yourself:
“What am I grateful for this morning?”
Maybe you’re grateful for the sleep you had.
Maybe you’re grateful for your home.
Maybe you’re simply grateful for another day to experience life.
These small moments begin planting the seeds for the rest of your day.
Appreciate the Things That Support You
One practice I enjoy is taking a moment to appreciate my bed.
Think about how many hours it supports your body every night.
It keeps you warm.
It allows your body to recover.
It gives you a place to rest.
Rather than rushing away from it each morning, spend a few moments acknowledging what it gives you.
Then make your bed.
It may seem like a very small thing, but I believe how you do one thing is often how you do everything.
Beginning your day by creating order, appreciation, and intention often carries into the rest of your day.
For me personally, I also place crystals on my bed after making it. I believe they help reinforce my intention of creating a peaceful, supportive environment and remind me throughout the day of the energy I’m trying to cultivate.
Whether crystals resonate with you or not isn’t really the important part.
The important part is creating small daily rituals that remind you of the qualities you’re trying to grow.
What If You Didn’t Sleep Well?
Sometimes you may wake up after a poor night’s sleep and wonder how you can honestly appreciate your bed.
Instead of focusing on what didn’t go well, look for what was still true.
Did it keep you warm?
Did it keep you comfortable?
Did it keep you safe?
Or perhaps you remember another night when you slept incredibly well and reconnect with that feeling of appreciation.
Gratitude isn’t about pretending everything is perfect.
It’s about intentionally noticing what is already supporting you.
That simple shift begins planting different seeds.
Creating More Flow in Your Environment
I’ve noticed that creating a little more order in my surroundings helps me create more order inside as well.
Think of a river flowing downstream. When large rocks are scattered throughout it, the water has to flow around them, creating little back eddies where sticks and foam get caught.
Our homes can be a bit like that.
When we leave clutter and unfinished things everywhere, it’s almost as though our attention gets caught in those little back eddies. They become constant reminders of things left undone.
That’s why I like to begin my day by making my bed and creating a sense of order right from the start.
It isn’t really about having a perfectly clean house.
It’s about creating an environment that supports peace, flow, and intentional living.
Start the Day by Planting the Right Seeds
After making your bed, this is a wonderful time to continue with your awareness practice.
Sit quietly.
Focus on your breathing.
Allow yourself to become present before you eat or begin the busyness of the day.
When we’re more present and connected to ourselves, we’re much more likely to feel peaceful and aligned with the kind of life we’re trying to create.
Remember the garden analogy from the previous video.
Every morning you’re planting seeds.
Ask yourself:
“What flowers do I want growing in my garden today?”
Perhaps today you’d like to grow patience.
Maybe understanding.
Maybe enthusiasm.
Maybe confidence.
Or maybe today you simply want to feel a little more peaceful than yesterday.
Even if your daily routine is very similar from one day to the next, you can still bring a different intention into it.
Instead of just getting through another workday, ask yourself:
“What quality do I want to practice today?”
That one simple question can completely change how you experience the day.
Setting Intentions Throughout the Day
As you move through your day, keep coming back to those intentions.
If you wanted to grow flowers in a garden, you wouldn’t plant the seeds and then forget about them.
You would continue watering them.
Our intentions are much the same.
Throughout the day, gently remind yourself of the qualities you’re trying to cultivate.
Notice when you’re being patient.
Notice when you respond with understanding.
Notice when you follow through on something you committed to doing.
Each of those moments is another seed being watered.
Little by little, those small choices begin creating new habits and a different way of living.
Completing Your Day
The end of the day is just as important as the beginning.
Many people go to bed while the events of the day are still running through their minds.
Maybe something didn’t get finished.
Maybe there was a difficult conversation.
Maybe there’s something you’re still worrying about.
Before going to sleep, spend a few quiet moments reflecting on your day.
Ask yourself:
•What did I learn today?
•What am I grateful for today?
•Is there anything that still feels unfinished?
•Is there something I can set aside until tomorrow?
If there is, acknowledge it.
Then make a conscious decision to continue working on it tomorrow rather than carrying it into your sleep.
Completing the day in this way helps create a sense of closure.
Instead of taking unfinished thoughts to bed with you, you allow yourself to let them go and prepare for a new beginning tomorrow.
Ending the Day with Intention
Just as you can begin your day with intention, you can also end it with intention.
One of the little rituals I enjoy is putting away the crystals that I placed on my bed that morning. As I do that, I thank them for helping remind me of the peaceful, restorative sleep and positive energy I want to create.
Whether you believe in crystals or not isn’t the important part.
The important part is creating a simple ritual that reminds you to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with yourself before going to sleep.
Preparing for Restful Sleep
Before you go to sleep, take a few slow breaths and allow your body to relax.
If there was something that challenged you during the day, ask yourself if you’ve done everything you reasonably can for today.
If you have, then give yourself permission to set it aside until tomorrow.
Sometimes we continue thinking about unfinished problems while we’re trying to fall asleep.
Instead, you might simply say to yourself,
“I’ve done what I can today. I’ll continue tomorrow.”
Or perhaps you can set an intention for your subconscious mind.
You might think,
“I’d like to wake up tomorrow with greater clarity about this situation.”
Then let it go.
Allow yourself to drift off with a feeling of peace rather than carrying tension into your sleep.
Bringing It All Together
As you practice these morning and evening routines, remember that you’re not simply trying to create more financial abundance.
You’re creating a different way of living.
Financial stress is often connected to much deeper patterns—our beliefs, habits, emotional reactions, and the way we meet each day.
By beginning your morning with awareness, appreciation, and intention, and ending your day with reflection and gratitude, you gradually begin changing those patterns.
These small daily practices help you move from living on autopilot to living more intentionally.
Over time, they become part of who you are.
Reflect This Week
As you move through this week, take some time to notice how you begin and end each day.
Ask yourself:
•How do I usually start my mornings?
•What seeds am I planting first thing each day?
•What qualities do I want to grow in my life?
•How do I usually finish my day?
•Is there anything I can appreciate before going to sleep?
•Is there anything I need to complete or consciously set aside until tomorrow?
You don’t need to change everything at once.
Simply begin experimenting with a few of these practices and notice how they influence the rest of your day.
Little by little, those small intentions become new habits.
Those habits begin creating a different life.
In the next video, we’ll explore the idea that what got you here can’t get you there.
If we want our lives to change, we have to become willing to grow into a different version of ourselves rather than continuing to think and act in the same familiar ways.
