Welcome to the next video in the overcoming self-doubt series. Last week, we explored how the awareness practice helps you notice your thoughts, see the beliefs behind them, and begin looking at your day through a different lens. When you start to observe your thoughts instead of being controlled by them, you gain clarity about what is shaping your self-doubt.
Today, we’re going deeper into gratitude, appreciation, and shifting the emotional energy in your body. These simple but powerful practices help change the frequency of how you feel, which directly affects your confidence, your beliefs, and the way you experience your day.
Understanding Emotional Frequencies
When you wake up feeling depressed or heavy, everything feels difficult. Getting out of bed is harder, and the world seems dull and discouraging. But when you wake up excited or hopeful, everything feels lighter and easier.
These emotional states have very different energy frequencies.
When you feel low and think negative thoughts, your mind and body “entrain” to that frequency — meaning they reinforce and amplify it until it snowballs.
The same is true for positive emotions.
If you focus on appreciation or anything that feels good, those feelings also build momentum. The point is not to fake positivity or force unrealistic affirmations. It’s simply to notice and appreciate what is already here — right now — in the present moment.
Our point of power is always in the present moment.
How Gratitude Helps Rewire Self-Doubt
If you want to shift doubt into confidence, start focusing on what you appreciate. This tells your subconscious mind:
•life is safe
•life has goodness in it
•you are capable of experiencing positive things
•you can trust yourself and the world more
This shift helps you stop feeding the belief that life is harsh or unsupportive. When you focus on appreciation, you teach your nervous system that things are okay, which turns off fight-or-flight and activates the parasympathetic nervous system — the state of healing, growth, creativity, and confidence.
Practical Ways to Build Gratitude Into Your Day
The key is to focus on real, simple things that make you feel good — not forced affirmations.
Try this throughout your day:
•Look in the mirror each morning and notice one thing you genuinely like about yourself.
•When you’re heading to work, appreciate something in your environment: a tree, a bird, the light.
•When interacting with others, look for something positive you can acknowledge or appreciate.
•Instead of starting the day by noticing what frustrates you, notice something that uplifts you, even slightly.
•At the end of the day, reflect on any moment — big or small — that felt good or meaningful.
What you focus on expands.
If you look for negative things, you’ll see more of them.
If you look for positive things, you’ll see more of those, too.
Wayne Dyer’s quote captures this perfectly:
“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
Reprogramming Your Subconscious Mind
Your subconscious mind learns through repetition and emotion.
When you intentionally focus on things you like, you build new internal programs that look for safety, connection, success, and possibility.
This changes:
•how you feel in your body
•how you interpret your day
•how confident you feel
•how open you are to new experiences
Even a small shift in where you place your attention can completely change your emotional experience of the day.
Returning to Your Awareness Practice
Alongside gratitude, continue your daily awareness practice:
•Sit and breathe.
•Notice body sensations.
•Notice when you get distracted and gently return.
•Pay attention to how different emotions feel in your body.
The more you practice returning to presence and accepting your emotions, the easier it becomes to regulate your them and redirect your thoughts in supportive ways.
If you want to feel better, you cannot afford not to be present.
Happiness and confidence can only happen in the present moment.
By choosing to focus on gratitude and awareness each day, you are tending your inner garden — cultivating a direction that leads to emotional healing, confidence, and a more empowered way of living.
