This is the next video in the Overcoming Self-Doubt series, focused on building solid, lasting confidence.
In the last video, I talked about how what you practice is what you get. If we spend our days focusing on negativity, self-criticism, or what went wrong, we reinforce that way of seeing life. Our perception shapes our expectations—and those expectations shape our experience.
But what if you focused on what you want instead?
Most people want to feel good about what they do. They want to feel confident, capable, fulfilled, curious, and successful. If that’s what you want, then that’s what you need to begin practicing—starting now, in small, realistic ways.
Today, I want to talk about success steps and how to apply them in everyday life.
What Success Steps Really Are
Success steps are not about pushing harder or forcing yourself through discomfort. They are about aligning how you feel during each step with the essence of what you want to create.
At the core, most goals come down to this:
• I want to feel confident
• I want to feel good about myself
• I want to feel capable and successful
Instead of only focusing on the final outcome, success steps ask you to bring that feeling into every step along the way.
Why Small Steps Matter
Imagine completing a large puzzle.
Every piece you place carries the emotional energy you bring into it.
If every step is filled with:
• “This is awful”
• “I hate this”
• “I’m bad at this”
Then even if you finish the puzzle, the experience feels empty and unsatisfying.
But if every step includes:
• Presence
• Appreciation
• Confidence
• A sense of progress
Then the finished result feels meaningful and empowering.
What you put in is what you get out.
How to Apply Success Steps in Daily Life
Start by identifying the essence of your goal.
Ask yourself:
• How do I want to feel when this is complete?
Then break that goal into very small, manageable steps.
For each step:
• Be present while doing it
• Remind yourself this step is part of your larger intention
• Allow yourself to feel successful while doing it
For example:
• Driving somewhere becomes a success when you stay present and enjoy the drive
• Filling out a form becomes a success when you remind yourself it supports your goal
• Completing a simple task becomes meaningful when you acknowledge it
When you finish a step, pause and recognize it:
• “I did that.”
• “That was a success.”
• “I followed through.”
This is how confidence is built—through experience, not positive thinking alone.
Building a New Confidence Pattern
Each success step strengthens a new belief system:
• I can follow through
• I can handle things
• I feel good about what I do
Over time, self-doubt begins to fall away—not because you fought it, but because confidence is being practiced consistently.
You may have hundreds or even thousands of small successes throughout your day, week, and month. Each one reinforces trust in yourself.
If your goal feels big, break it down until the steps feel doable.
Confidence grows best when success is chewable, not overwhelming.
Give This a Try
Choose one small goal today.
• Break it into the smallest step possible
• Be present while doing it
• Let yourself feel good about completing it
Over time, this process naturally replaces self-doubt with confidence.
I hope you found this helpful, and I look forward to seeing you in the next video.
