Welcome to Video 11 in my Financial Stress & Money Mindset series.

Today I’d like to go a little deeper into an idea that connects many of the themes we’ve already explored throughout this series.

In the previous video, we talked about the idea that what got you here can’t get you there. If we keep doing the same things, we’ll continue getting the same results. Creating greater abundance isn’t simply about working harder or learning another strategy. It’s about continually growing, evolving, and becoming a different version of ourselves.

As we work toward the life we want, the person we’re becoming is often what attracts the opportunities, relationships, and experiences that follow. Every step of personal growth helps us move toward a life that’s more aligned with who we truly are.

This leads to an important question:

Who are we actually trying to create our life from?

If we’re operating from old programs, wearing a mask, trying to be someone we’re not, or constantly hiding parts of ourselves, then we’re trying to create abundance from a version of ourselves that isn’t authentic.

The person we’re being is the person that’s attracting what we experience.

If we’re carrying insecurities, constantly trying to impress other people, changing who we are to fit in, buying things simply to look successful, or saying what we think others want to hear instead of speaking our truth, then we’re creating our life from that place.

I’ve often said that much of our suffering comes from trying to be something we’re not.

It takes an incredible amount of energy to keep pretending.

We work hard trying to meet expectations, fit into standards we believe we should meet, or become someone we think other people will approve of. When we’re constantly judging ourselves or believing we’re not good enough, we’re actually holding ourselves back from expressing who we really are.

Sometimes people wonder why they’re working so hard to create change, visualizing abundance, learning about manifestation, doing everything they think they’re supposed to do, yet nothing seems to be changing.

One possibility is that they’re trying to attract abundance while denying the very person that abundance is meant for.

If we’re not allowing ourselves to be who we truly are, how can everything that’s meant for us fully arrive?

Authenticity Isn’t About Becoming Someone New

Personal growth isn’t about becoming someone else.

It’s actually about uncovering who we’ve always been underneath the conditioning, fears, doubts, and beliefs we’ve accumulated throughout life.

As children, most of us naturally expressed who we were. We laughed easily, explored with curiosity, spoke honestly, and weren’t constantly worrying about what everyone thought of us.

Then life happened.

We experienced criticism, rejection, embarrassment, disappointment, and painful experiences that taught us it might be safer to hide certain parts of ourselves.

Little by little, we began adapting.

We learned what seemed acceptable. We learned how to fit in. We learned how to avoid rejection. Over time, we created a version of ourselves designed to survive.

That survival self may have protected us at one time.

But it may also be limiting us now.

The interesting thing is that the more authentic we become, the less energy we waste trying to maintain an image.

Instead of constantly managing how we’re perceived, we can invest that energy into creating, connecting, growing, and contributing.

People often assume authenticity means simply saying whatever comes to mind.

That’s not what I mean.

Authenticity is about living in greater alignment with your deepest values.

It’s about becoming increasingly honest with yourself.

It’s about noticing where fear is making your decisions instead of wisdom.

It’s about allowing yourself to gradually become more of who you already are.

Ironically, many of the qualities we admire in other people—confidence, peace, kindness, creativity, and genuine presence—often arise naturally when someone is no longer pretending to be someone they’re not.

Authenticity isn’t something we add.

It’s often something we uncover.

Living From the Inside Out

When we become more authentic, something interesting begins to happen.

We stop looking outside ourselves for constant validation.

Instead of asking, “Will people approve of me?” we begin asking, “Does this feel true to who I am?”

That doesn’t mean we stop caring about others.

It simply means we stop allowing other people’s opinions to become the foundation of our self-worth.

This can be incredibly freeing.

Many people spend years chasing external success while quietly feeling disconnected inside.

They may achieve financial success, buy the house, purchase the vehicle, build the business, or receive recognition from others, yet still feel that something is missing.

Why?

Because no amount of external success can replace living in alignment with who we truly are.

As we become more authentic, our decisions often become clearer.

We may naturally move toward work that’s more meaningful, relationships that feel healthier, and opportunities that genuinely excite us.

We may also become more willing to let go of situations that no longer fit who we’re becoming.

That can feel uncomfortable at first.

Growth often requires leaving behind old identities, familiar habits, and even environments that once felt safe.

But this is where genuine confidence begins to develop.

Not because we’ve become perfect.

Not because everyone agrees with us.

But because we’re becoming increasingly comfortable being ourselves.

The more authentic we become, the more our outer life often begins reflecting our inner values.

That doesn’t mean life becomes effortless.

Challenges will still arise.

But we’re no longer building our lives on a foundation of fear, comparison, or pretending.

We’re building from something much more stable.

We’re building from who we truly are.

Practising Authenticity Through Mindfulness

One of the reasons I place such an emphasis on mindfulness is because it helps us reconnect with ourselves.

When we slow down, become present, and simply notice what we’re feeling in our body, we’re no longer practising being someone else.

We’re practising being ourselves.

That’s why I encourage you to spend time each day doing the awareness practice.

Notice your breathing.

Notice the sensations in your body.

Notice your thoughts without trying to fight them.

Little by little, you’ll begin recognizing what feels authentic and what feels like fear, conditioning, or habit.

The more familiar you become with yourself, the easier it becomes to make decisions that genuinely align with who you are.

You may even begin noticing certain friendships, environments, or activities that no longer feel right.

Perhaps you’ve tried talking with certain friends about the personal growth you’re experiencing, but they aren’t interested.

Perhaps you’ve noticed your work no longer feels meaningful.

Or maybe you’re beginning to realize you’ve spent years trying to meet other people’s expectations instead of listening to your own heart.

I’m not suggesting you suddenly end friendships or quit your job.

I’m simply encouraging you to become curious.

Ask yourself:

•Where am I being authentic?

•Where am I holding myself back?

•Where am I afraid to speak my truth?

•What would feel more aligned with who I’m becoming?

Sometimes those questions alone begin creating powerful change.

If you can’t be yourself within a friendship, it’s worth asking whether the relationship is truly supporting the person you’re becoming.

Likewise, if you’re constantly pretending within a relationship because you’re afraid of rejection or abandonment, that relationship may have been built around a version of yourself that isn’t fully authentic.

That takes tremendous energy to maintain.

When we finally begin showing up as ourselves, one of two things often happens.

Some relationships grow stronger because they’re built on honesty.

Others naturally drift apart because they depended on us continuing to play a role.

Although that can be painful, it also creates space for healthier relationships built on truth rather than pretending.

One final thought before you go.

This week, simply notice the moments when you feel most like yourself.

Notice the situations where you feel relaxed, genuine, and free to express who you are.

Then notice the situations where you find yourself holding back, trying to fit in, or worrying about what others think.

Those moments aren’t failures.

They’re opportunities for awareness.

Every time you notice them, you have another chance to choose authenticity over fear.

As you continue practising mindfulness and becoming more comfortable with who you truly are, you may find that the abundance you’re seeking no longer feels like something you’re chasing.

Instead, it begins growing naturally from the person you’re becoming.

Next Video

In the next video, we’ll look at what happens when fears and old emotional patterns surface as we begin changing, and how mindfulness can help us work through those challenges in the moment.

Thank you for reading, and I wish you a wonderful week.
