So, this is overcoming chronic pain video number two.
If you’re having trouble with chronic pain and it just keeps going on and on, and you’re trying to do things and it won’t go away, there’s probably something a lot deeper that is contributing to that pattern staying in place.
In video number one, I talked about how it’s not just the physical. There’s a lot more than that.
Today, I want to talk about the kinds of things underneath — the hidden causes that could be contributing to your pain. I’ll go deeper into the subconscious mind in another video, but for now, I want to bring awareness to the patterns that can build up over time.
Think about situations in your life where you might feel stuck.
For example, if you’re in a relationship and you’re unhappy, but you feel like you can’t leave. Maybe there are financial reasons, or fear of being alone, or uncertainty about what would happen next. That kind of ongoing internal stress that you keep holding inside yourself can create tension and resistance in your body.
Or maybe you’re in a job that you don’t feel good about. You’re not making enough money, or there’s constant pressure. That underlying stress doesn’t just go away — it stays with you.
You might not be speaking your truth in certain situations. You may feel like you’re going along with things while feeling taken advantage of. That creates internal tension.
There are also deeper belief patterns that can come from long ago.
If you don’t feel good enough, or you feel unworthy, or you’re hard on yourself, that inner dialogue affects your body more than you might realize. If your inner self-talk is critical — judging yourself, calling yourself names, or constantly putting yourself down — that creates ongoing internal stress.
Even small daily frustrations can build up.
If you’re always getting stressed in traffic, or things don’t work properly and you feel overwhelmed easily, your body is constantly being triggered into a tense state.
That tension adds up.
Think of your body like a dish washing sponge. If you squeeze it really tight, water can’t move through it properly. But when it relaxes, everything flows.
When you’re holding stress inside, your body is like that tightened sponge.
Blood flow, communication between systems, and overall function are affected. Your skeletal system, digestive system, nervous system, immune system — all of the main biological systems need to function properly for your body to maintain balance and heal.
But when there is constant tension, your body can’t operate at full efficiency.
Your nervous system is triggered into a stressed state — tight, tense, and alert.
And when your body is in that state, it’s not in a healing state.
All of your energy is going toward maintaining balance instead of repairing and restoring. Over time, your body becomes exhausted, and this ongoing imbalance can show up as chronic pain.

So, in this video, I really suggest awareness.
Start bringing awareness into your life and being honest with yourself.
•What are the deeper underlying stresses in my life?
•What situations feel unresolved?
•Is there something from long ago that still affects me?
•Do I feel anxious or unsafe in certain situations?
•Am I holding things in instead of expressing them?
If you wake up from a bad dream, your body feels tense and tight, even though it’s not real. Your mind perceives it as real, and your body responds.
If you wake up from a good dream, your body feels calm and relaxed.
Your body doesn’t always know the difference between what is happening internally and what is happening externally.
So if you’re constantly in a stressed internal state, your body stays tense.
And when your body is tense, it cannot fully heal.
Take a little bit of time each day to sit, breathe, and reflect.
Where is the stress coming from?
Is it something from your past?
Is it something ongoing in your life?
Is it patterns that have built up over time?
You might notice recurring themes:
•Challenges with money
•Difficult relationships
•Feeling overwhelmed emotionally
•Pushing emotions down instead of processing them
These things create tension underneath the surface.
This week, just begin to look at that. Start becoming aware of where the stress and tension might be coming from in your life.
In the next video, we’re going to go deeper into the nervous system and how it works, and how it can directly affect your body’s ability to heal.
