What can you do during interactions with other people or challenging circumstances so you don’t take on negative energy, get caught in anxiety and fears, or become overwhelmed!

The goal is to become more able to stay present and move through whatever you’re doing in a way that feels good, while keeping your energy strong and your mind clear.

This is Video 8 in my Positive Energy Protection series.

We’ve now moved into the practical application of what you can do before, during and after interactions with other people to help keep your energy strong.

The earlier part of this series explored how our energy can be affected by other people. More recently, we’ve looked at clearing your energy before an interaction and setting an intention for what you’re moving into.

Now you’re actually in the middle of the interaction.

This is where it can become easy to get distracted, forget the tools you prepared beforehand, and become vulnerable again to taking on energy that doesn’t feel good.

Notice When You’re Being Pulled Away

You may have cleared your energy and set a clear intention beforehand, but once you become busy with what you’re doing, it’s easy to forget about all of that.

Maybe you’re talking with someone and notice yourself getting drained. Perhaps the conversation starts going somewhere that doesn’t feel good, or you feel yourself getting pulled away from the intention you originally set.

It can also happen when you’re doing something stressful, such as writing a test. You may become caught in fear and anxiety and suddenly find that you can’t access the information you know you studied.

This is the point where awareness becomes really important.

Check in with yourself:

•Am I starting to feel drained?

•Am I getting pulled into a conversation that doesn’t feel good?

•Am I being pulled away from my intention?

•Does it feel as though my energy is being diverted somewhere I don’t want it to go?

As soon as you notice it happening, you have an opportunity to come back to yourself.

Come Back to Your Breathing

Connect with your breathing.

This is one of the tools we used when preparing ourselves before an interaction, but it becomes equally important while the interaction is actually happening.

Bring your attention back to your breath and the sensations in your body.

You don’t necessarily have to stop everything you’re doing. You might simply be talking with somebody and realize that you need a moment to take a breather.

Take that moment.

Feel yourself breathing.

Bring your attention out of everything happening in your thoughts and back into your body and the present moment.

Your point of power is in the present.

Surround Yourself and the Interaction With Light

As you reconnect with your breathing, imagine yourself surrounded with light.

You can also imagine the other person, the people around you, or the place itself surrounded with light.

This can be powerful because it brings your conscious attention into the present moment. You are shining light on yourself, the other person and the interaction that is happening right now.

I use this myself when working with clients, including during video sessions. I prepare myself beforehand, but once I’m actually with the person, I can also imagine myself surrounded with light and imagine them surrounded with light.

It becomes a simple way of reconnecting with the present experience.

Reconnect With Your Intention

Once you have taken that breath and brought yourself back into the moment, briefly reconnect with the intention you set beforehand.

Ask yourself:

What was my intention?

Have things gone a little differently than I expected?

Do I need to adjust my intention?

Is something about this interaction distracting me or affecting my energy?

You don’t need to spend a long time thinking about it.

Just get clear again about where you want to go from here.

Surround yourself with light, breathe, reconnect with your intention and continue.

One step at a time – Your Point of Power Is in the Present

Whatever feelings arise during the interaction, breathe into them.

If you can remain with your breathing in the moment, you can breathe through the feelings that come up as you move through the experience.

Rather than allowing those feelings to accumulate and pull you further into anxiety or fear, stay with what is happening right now.

Breathe.

Be here.

Then take the next step.

You don’t have to work out the entire interaction in your mind. You only need to be present with this moment and then the next one.

Eventually, time moves forward and the interaction comes towards completion.

Remember the Role You Chose to Step Into

In the previous video, I talked about imagining the situation almost like stepping onto a stage.

You’re still yourself, but you consciously put on the “costume” or role representing the person you want to be in that particular situation.

Now you’re playing that role.

During the interaction, reconnect with it when you need to. Remember the intention you set and continue moving through the experience as consciously and presently as you can.

Once the interaction is complete, there is another important step: letting go of the experience so you don’t carry its energy with you into whatever comes next.

That is what we’ll explore in the next video.

The series moves through preparing your energy before an interaction, staying grounded and present while it is happening, and then letting go afterwards so you can move forward without continuing to carry the experience with you.

Counselling Hypnotherapy

Sometimes becoming overwhelmed or strongly affected during interactions connects with deeper emotional or subconscious patterns. Counselling and hypnotherapy can provide an opportunity to explore those patterns and develop a different relationship with the thoughts, feelings and reactions that arise.
